Having borrowed my first season set, my parents went about bought the complete set a couple of months ago when it was at £120. I'm currently borrowing it from them, but have been keeping an eye on the price to get my own copy at some point. That is a great price, and surely it can't go much cheaper than that now. Very tempting...

Yeh, I think the only comparable price you'll get is for the region 1 set otherwise might be a while before it'll dip any lower.

Still, you could do worse with £100 :face-monkey: I can't believe there's actually a dvd in the world called '50 goals v dundee united' where did it all go wrong...

    Ooooohhhhh.

I got to the end of season 3 last night, still on discs borrowed from my parents. They're way ahead of me, on season 6 last time I spoke to them and they say it gets better and better as the seasons progress.

I know I'd be fine to keep getting discs from them, and I could get them all again when I give the series the second viewing it will definitely warrant. Getting my own copy will really just be so the nice box can sit and look pretty on my shelf, beside my new but as yet unopened Six Feet Under set, and beside the Battlestar Galactica 1-3 box I'll get as soon as its price dips to around £40.

Brilliant deal at this price for the 44 disc box set.

Next cheapest - £114.93 at The Hut.

If it's been that price once, it'll get there again and I can wait.

Starting to get impatient for the Wire season 4 dropping to around £15 though.

This one's price is all over the place - it's to £83.97 now. Technically it's down from last week's price of £91.97 but to me it's still up from the price I missed out on a couple of weeks ago so I'm not buying yet!

Debating whether to pick this or The Wire as my fave US show in the new compy.

My wait and see policy comes up trumps again:

    It's down to 49.99 at HMV!! :face-smile::face-smile::face-smile:

That has to be the bargain to end all bargains - £7 a season, less once I get my savespy cashback (though I'm still miles off being able to cash in my savespy funds).

    Thankful People: grant

And maybe a Dundee win this weekend.

    Looks like I am right!

Although we should all be excited at the mass amounts of DVD prices going down, be careful! With Blu-Ray Discs on the rise, standard DVD prices will drop immensely as seen lately, but then... consumers will want you to upgrade your DVD collection to Blu- Ray!

So at the end, enjoy while you can- there's still a corner to turn...

    :face-devil:

Time will tell ashiqp, was just reading that the last big Blu-ray summit had delegates bemoaning the relative lack of take up of blu-ray in Europe with consumer feedback being that they were yet to be convinced/unaware of the benefits or were happy enough with their current set up.

Think these price drops are more indictative of end of line stock clearing and enticing bigger spends from consumers who're tightening the purse strings due to the financial climate. So merchants are thinking it's better to sell thousands of box sets at £50 than a couple of hundred at £100.

Just my 2p worth but don't really think these price drops have too much to do with blu-ray and are more a sign of desperate marketing departments - not always a bad thing in my book :face-wink:

I've no desire to get myself a Blu-Ray player anytime soon. Even when I eventually do catch up with the times, I'll be happy to watch all my current DVDs on it, rather than replace them.

I'd be interested in some sales figures between Blu-Ray and HD, especially after HD "lost". HD prices plummetted and I know of several people who bought an HD player then and snapped up dozens of films at bargain prices.

I imagine the credit crunch thing is a big factor. Shops will be preparing for the Christmas run now, and looking at a public faced with rising housing, energy, fuel and food costs and having to cut back on non-essential items and on how much they'll have to spend on Christmas gifts.

Clearly those of us here don't consider DVDs non-essential but the majority rule so shops need to entice them with bargain deals and those of us buying more than just the occasional film in Tesco or box set off Amazon will benefit.

Whatever the reasons behind such price drops, long may they continue. My West Wing set is already on the way. :face-smile:
