Great price at Woolworths for this remastered (Deluxe Box Set) of Series 1-3 of Red Dwarf. Out in 3 weeks time on October 22nd I doubt you'll get it much cheaper than this. Woolworths recently dropped the price of Doctor Who Season 3 way below everywhere else but it went way up the next day so don't bank on this lasting.

Red Dwarf: Series 1-3 Deluxe Box Set - £21.97 delivered at Amazon

    Next Cheapest price - £27.99 at DVD.co.uk

    Great price Grant.I've ordered one!

This edition is intended to supersede the previous DVD releases.

Set includes series 1,2,3 and the newly re-constructed 1st series lost episode 'Bodysnatcher' - the episode has been recreated with storyboards , with a unique Chris Barrie vocal performance portraying the entire cast , with a newly (2007) completed script which was started in 1987!!! - kind of like some of the lost doctor who re-constructions .

The re-mastered element is rather odd as these are the same as the 1997 re-masters - Which are good enough already BTW.

I must say though that a great reason to get this set is the newly added extras , this revised edition of series 1,2,3 is almost bursting with features , making them now the definitive editions , take a deep breath...

6 episode commentaries, four bonus commentaries, promo and effects reels, easter eggs and the ‘What’s Different?’ text track – detailing the remastering changes…and occasionally making fun of them.

‘The Beginning’ – Original Series I Documentary (70 mins)

‘It’s Cold Outside – Original Series II Documentary (70 mins)

    ‘Red-Dwarf’ – Original Remastering Documentary (21 mins)

‘The End: The Original Assembly’ – The first episode of the series...before two-thirds were re-shot. Includes Grant/Naylor commentary

‘Bodysnatcher’ – The Lost Episode. Includes Grant/Naylor commentary and uncut ‘audio edition’

Deleted Scenes – The cast freezing to death, and Kryten’s first day at work

Lost Script Extracts – storyboard sequences voiced by Chris Barrie, with optional Grant/Naylor commentary

Rob and Doug Interview – Alan Titchmarsh in “The Most Embarrassing Interview In The Universe Ever” with hilarious Grant/Naylor commentary

    Tongue Tied Audio Archive

Mobisode – an exclusive look at a new, animated Red Dwarf

Galleries – Rare shots from behind-the-scenes
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then a couple of weeks later on 5th November 2007 2 Entertain will release ’Just the Smegs’ – The Red Dwarf Smeg Ups & Smeg Outs DVD Collection. Priced at £15.99 RRP the collection includes the original “Smeg Ups” and “Smeg Outs” collections (previously released on VHS and then broken into segments for the DVD releases of each series) along with the following bonus features…

    Series VII Smeg Ups (10mins)

    Series VIII Smeg Ups (10mins)

The Smeg Ups: Broadcast Edition – Hosted by Kryten, Lister and Rimmer and on home release for the first time. (30mins)

Still available at woolworths for only £24.97.

Next best is £34.75 at Foxy.

That's £9.78 cheaper than the next best price.

    JFYI - I pre-ordered this set a good 3/4 weeks ago -
Release date shows as 22nd of October , yet my order is showing as a back order or pre-release (on the 23rd/10th).

There may be a slight delay therefore on this good value set.

Received an odd email from Woolworths.co.uk this morning.

(just found out this set has been pushed back till 12/12/07 btw)

Having being charged the £25 for the set on the 22/10 , I've now being told that I am to be refunded .... because my order is a backorder or pre-release.

There was no specific reason or 'sorry but item is unavailable' - or even a cancellation - just limbo.

Why was I refunded ? I should of had the option of continuing the order , at the very least if it had indeed had a release date slip:face-angry:

Hang-on - if my suspicions are right - Woolworths, having given those who pre-ordered nice and early like me a good price on the set initially. Now think that they want £38 for it.

Let's hope that the original order is honoured by Woolworths (I've already emailed so should have an answer for anyone else on this pre-order too) - I don't mind the release date slipping , I just want the set for the money Woolworths and I agreed on.

After all - You don't give them free reign of your bank account for nothing do you?

that's a poor show from Woolworths if they won't let you have it for the price you ordered it at, pre-release or backorder shouldn't make any difference.

this was still £24.97 earlier today as i was going to post saying it's still available. my guess is it'll probably go back down to that price at some point before the new release date. but then you might want to go elsewhere if they won't play ball anyway.

UPDATE : For anyone else who pre-ordered for £24.97 at Woolworths.

I have been told by Woolworths - that my order is now officially a prerelease or back-order once again.

My pre-order is therefore still valid and I will be charged the 'pre-order' price once the box set is in stock.

Set is scheduled for release on Monday 17th of December.

Best price now for any new orderers is just south of £35

Another set on my giant heap to watch during my 'time off' over Xmas .

I'm a bit like the Bob Cratchit character here at DVDCollections.

Grant is the Ebenezer Scrooge character, complete with miserly coal allowance and no Xmas bonus:face-cry:
