Talking of films, I love Shrek - absolutely brilliant as I can watch these films with my young neices and not necessarily be laughing at the same things!! :face-wink: and I think Puss in Boots cutie pie face is well --cute:face-smile:

For me it just has to be Dad's Army. In terms of standing the test of time I needed to look no further than my two young sons aged 5 and 7 laughing at the antic's of Mainwaring and Pike!! Excellent stuff. The writing is top class and the acting is very personable. You can relate to the actors and the characters they were playing. In fact all the cast were friends and met outside work very often on Arthur Lowes boat.

Dad's Army has returned to the stage with Leslie Grantham (aka Dirty Den from Eastenders) as the spiv Private Walker currently being held at a number of theatres up and down the country. Use the following link to view a massive piece of television comedy history. Well worth the money.

I love Arthur Askey, sad but true, I can watch this dvd over and over, there may not be in your face humour but because it goes through the whole film, I find it a nice way to cheer myself up.

I much prefer the old situation comedies. I couldn't decide which one is my favourite, so I chose my top ten :face-smile:

My Top Ten in no particular order are:

    Are You Being Served?

    Porridge

    Only Fools and Horses

    Please Sir

    The Good Life

    Steptoe and Son

    On the Buses

    George and Mildred

    Sorry

    Till Death us do Part

If I was pushed to chose a favourite, I would have to say On the Buses (I know! I know!) ! Every episode was like a 30 minute Carry On Film with Blakey (I'll get you, Butler!), Stan, Jack, Arthur, Mum and Olive.

The situations normally involved Stan losing his trousers and having to drive the bus back to the Depot, while avoiding Blakey's eagle eyes, then after getting a chit ( I said CHIT!) from Blakey for his new suit , he's off to the canteen and chatting up a sexy young clippie dollybird. "Oooooh, You do look smart in your new uniform, Stan!" (whatever did they see in Stan and Jack?), then he's off home to find Mum, who would have burnt Stan's supper, while Arthur would be avoiding Olive's amorous attentions. Stan, eager to meet up with the new clippie would end up sitting on a newly painted chair, ruining his new uniform and much hilarity would ensue. They sure don't write comedies like that anymore. Classic!

My funniest film is: planes, trains & automobiles.

There are so many funny moments throughout this film, which stars 2 of the best comic actors Steve Martin and John Candy (RIP).

The sharing the motel bed, and waking up to ask where is hand is, thinking it is between 2 pillows lol.
Driving along the road, "but going the wrong way" is hilarious.
And a third bit, is when Steve Martin gets picked up by his testicles... OUCH !!!!:face-devil:

Second choice actually, but still great...Only Fools and Horses

Only Fools & Horses Complete Collection

  2.

Have to agree with Wingeast. "Divided we Stand" is my favourite Steptoe also. Its the one where they want to lead seperate lives, but live in the same house, so they partition off all the rooms, half the room each. My favourite bit has Harold and Albert watching half a TV each, after watching football ("Was that a goal?") - they switch over to the ballet:

Albert (reading TV Listing) "Royal Festival Hall. Margot Fonteyn and Rudolph Nureyev. Les Sylphides - dirty devils..."

Harold (enjoying the ballet) "I hope they don't dance too far apart."

Albert (calling over the wall) "Harold, you should see what's happened on this side, her drawers have just fallen down.... :face-grin: :face-grin: :face-grin:

Been having a very blonde day & couldn't log in, but I've sorted it now!

Would have to go for one of the Ealing comedies. Probably The Man In The White Suit which has me in stitches every time I watch it - although I also love Kind Hearts & Coronets. I only discovered these films a few years ago, but I absolutely love them. No vulgarity, just pure genius! :face-grin:

  3.

my would have to be SHAMELESS and LITLLE BRITAIN

they are both great comedies :face-monkey:

    Hello

Oh this is so hard to pick just one but its has to be Nightingales featuring Robert Lindsay David Trelfall and James Ellis. An amazing show dangerously funny.

I would have to say the first series of Little Britain was great, i used to really enjoy Absolutely Fabulous and French and Saunders. At the moment I always get a good giggle from Mock the Week.

  4.

I love quite a few of the older sitcoms (although I'm not old enough to remember some of them) including On the Buses, Hi De Hi, Rising Damp

I also love Little Britain, Phoenix Nights and Fawlty Towers

    http://www.dvdcollections.co.uk/search/fetchPrices.php?id=mfno1014954

  5.

Porridge is the funniest for me - Ronnie Barker gives a perfect performance. All the characters and actors are excellent too. Very difficult to choose though, Fawlty Towers and Cheers are right there too.

It may not really qualify but You've Been Framed is almost guaranteed to give you many laughs each show - because it has been going so long it is easy to overlook it in the TV schedule, but it is probably better now than it has ever been, due to the wider range of material to choose from, plus the aid of Harry Hill's comments.

Not out yet on DVD (but will appear eventually hopefully), The Wonder Years was a superb American series (1988-93) which may not be known to all. Great writing and acting, and although the setting is a typical American suburban family, anyone could identify with it as it will bring back many memories of growing up as a teenager. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wonder_Years

I could have guessed most of these answers (though that doesn't make them ineligible for the prize) - but any series for whose fans negotiate and release their own dvd deserves to climb high in your list. Joking Apart is the unlikely title of a BBC2 comedy series by Steven Moffat, who recently made the long journey to Hollywood via a few of the best episodes of Doctor Who. Robert Bathurst - long before Cold Feet - and Fiona Gillies - long before Holby City - are a comedian and his soon-to-be-ex-wife battling their way through a marriage breakdown. Doesn't sound like the stuff of comedy, does it? Well try this and be very, very amused:

The Worst Week Of My Life

Hi Guys, I am a Newbie to the forum. It seems very friendly.

My favorite tv series is The Worst week of my life. I think they only made 2 series. I hope they make a 3rd or at least a christmas special. I really love it because you are on the edge of your chair thinking that things can't get any worst for him, but of course they do, they get much worst, but really funny. I enjoyed reading the other suggestions above and will definately look out for some of the ones that I didn't know about. Ciao for now, Jade :face-kiss:

Has to be the Benny Hill Show.

Absoltely brilliant sketches, which are timeless. A lot of them have no dialogue, so could be watched anywhere in the world. And then of course the famous chases, with that famous music.

Haven't been around so much this weekend but great to see so many entries and find out what keeps everyone laughing. Who'dve thought when On The Buses first aired in 1872 that it could still drum up so much interest today :face-grin:

weller96c, quite a list - sorry you lost it first time around. Had a look and I can't find a way of changing the timeout settings here so probably best to select all and copy what you've written before submitting just to be safe.

Thanks all who posted links to the dvds, found some decent deals among them too. Anyone who's not posted a link I'll make sure and add one for so you'll still be entered but in next weeks competition it's over to you.

Still time to enter up till midnight tonight after which I'll be performing the random draw in a sealed off warehouse with lawyers and government officials present to avoid any results rigging :face-monkey:

The winner (and any runners up) will be announced on the forum tomorrow morning and I'll send an email out if you won too.

    Good luck!

:face-laugh:After much consideration I've come up with what i think is the most funniest film of all time .
The most funniest film(s) has to be The Pink Panther collection. A succesful franchise with many sequels that kept the 1970's decade roaring with laughter. Peter Sellers' role as Inspector Clouseau is more than extraordinary and around every corner there is always something to make you:face-laugh:
I have got to say few have managed to keep the audience crying with joy with over 6 films or 10 hours, the way Peter Sellers has! Hugely satisfying, these movies can calm even Incredible Hulk!
What is interesting about the films is that there is a mixture of mystery, thriller, and slapstick humour all blended in hilariously to create something completely out of this world. I can never stop watching the films and each time the laughter only increases.
It's a real shame that 'The Return of The Pink Panther' is not included in the Pink Panther box set, so you'll have to buy that separately. There are also two more sequels, 'The Curse of The Pink Panther' and 'The Son of The Pink Panther' but these do not feature Petter Sellers, thus lacking the infinite humour of the first 6 films!
Here is the link for the Pink Panther Collection- no DVD collection should be without it!!!:face-laugh:

    http://www.dvdcollections.co.uk/search/fetchPrices.php?id=mfno1067536

The set is worth every penny and the appearnce is very attractive. A purple boxset with a cut out mirror on the front right of the outer slipcase! The inside folds out awesomely with animated shots of each of the five films in the background all over double sided, revealing the discs in the front! The quality of the picture and sound is awesome and clear, with the outstanding interactive menus as a bonus. it comes complete with a sixth discs with various features to relive the outrageous moments over and over again. It also has documentaries, a couple of The Pink Panther Cartoon episodes, original uncut trailers! And of course, to complete the set, a collector's booklet which is a must read!

And here is the link for 'The Return of The pink Panther', not included in the collection above, but nevertheless in the same standard as the five in the collection!

    http://www.dvdcollections.co.uk/search/fetchPrices.php?id=mfno1037941

Believe it or not, all 6 Peter Sellers' pink Panther movies are the funniest. Each tops the other and you can never stop :face-laugh: laughing throughout each whole films!

Whether it is the traditional slipping, falling and tripping scenes :face-laugh:, or the outragrous slapstick violence between Clouseasu and Kato (he just killed me!) :face-laugh: or even the hilarious accent of Clouseasu such as 'phone' and 'feurn', I can clearly state 'in black and white' the Pink Panther movies will never go out of date and each will keep its audience laughing out of control :face-laugh: for genearations to come, since the many decades it has!!!

The Peter Sellers' Pink Panther film collection- the most outrageous comedy- mystery- thriller- classic franchise ever!- bar none!

    (phew)!:face-grin:
    :face-laugh: :face-laugh: :face-laugh:
