Some good boxset bargains too.
Just ordered myself seasons 3 and 5 of Homicide: Life On The Streets for £11.99 each. Season 1 and 2 are also £11.99 each at HMV now (though the Hut and others have those at £11.43), but I already had those. Oddly, season 4 is £39.99 though it was only £9.99 when I ordered it from HMV in April.
No sooner have I finished one boxset last night (season 3 of the Wire - wonderful stuff), I go and order several more!
With prices like that for US shows, £29.99 still seems way too high for a Doctor Who season set.
HMV have updated their sales pages.
DVD sale is now 37 pages from 21
Boxset sale is now 18 pages from 9
They appear to have merged the
previous sales items (Boxsets upto 70% OFF/DVDs from £2.99)
into this one.
Whilst some prices have gone down (some massively),
some of those prices have also gone up,
which is a bit naughty
eg:
Alien boxset from £9.99 to £11.99 EDIT: Now back at £9.99
Alfie Paramount original from £5.49 to £5.99
Untouchables Paramount original from £5.49 to £5.99
Yeh noticed the Alien boxset increase too, also House 1-3 went up to £39.99 from £34.99. Aside from the odd increase agree it's one of the best sales of the year.
Another good price form the HMV sale...
Roots: Original Series 1 - 30th anniversary 4 Disc Box Set - £10.99 at HMV
Next cheapest - £16.89 at Sendit
Aswell as some Cinema Reserve Steelbooks at £5.99
(Be warned starting to release these in card packaging
like how the definitive editions went -
The Day The Earth Stood Still was a
card edition instore and looks like it online)
(£7 instore)
Romanzo Criminale Ltd Edition Steelbook only £3.99 online
(£4 instore) Next best £6.93

Cheapest Steelbook I have seen apart from
The Terminator which was £4 instore at ASDA a while back
Looks like items are already coming out of the sale. I bought the Kingdom at 2.99, and it arrived on Saturday. Watched it saturday with my brother, who'd already seen it at the cinema and wanted his own copy so I left my copy with him and came in today to order another copy for me and find it's 17.99 again. Who would ever pay that much for a single film on DVD these days?!!
Need to see if it's still cheap in-store now.
Kingdom is still £3 instore
Was lucky enough to pick up a copy of
the out of print Evil Dead: Book of the Dead at £5.99
but thats gone too.
The Kingdom's down to £2.99 online at Play now if you didn't get hold of it instore.
I saw that yesterday. I'd already got my brother to go get a copy instore though. All sorted. Good film too.
